Don’s Cobra and the Kindness of Strangers

Here is a true story about the kindness of strangers.

Don was a husband who tenderly cared for his terminally ill wife until her passing. He was also a dad who poured love into the lives of his daughters and grandchildren. And Don was a widow who found new love.

Don was also a man great faith and courage who faced a terrifying diagnosis of ALS (Lou Gehrig’s disease). His goal became to get behind the wheel of a dream car he was building in his garage before he died. But ALS is a debilitating disease and Don became unable to complete the build. That’s when a group of strangers and friends came from all over the country to help. Through the kindness of these friends and strangers, Don and this team of kind people built that car – a Shelby Cobra replica produced as a kit by Factory Five Racing.

ALS took Don’s life in 2010 but not before he had a chance to get behind the wheel of the car built with the kindness of strangers and rip it on the open road.

It’s quite a story about the goodness of God extended through ordinary people. A story that needs to be told.
